Coffee Cake
2 1/2 Cups Flour
2 Cups Brown Sugar, packed
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
2/3 Cup Shortening
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 Teaspoon Nutmeg
1 Cup Milk
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
2 Eggs, Beaten slightly
1/3 Cup Chopped Nuts
Preheat oven to 375. Stir together flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in shortening. Save 1/2 cup for topping. Add baking powder, soda and spices. Mix well. Add milk, eggs and lemon juice. Put in two round pans and sprinkle crumbs and nuts on top.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
